Spike Lee’s Next Movie Pushing Cell Phone Boundaries
Renowned filmmaker Spike Lee is giving cell phone users worldwide a new opportunity, to be a movie director. His next movie will use scenes shot exclusively from cell phone cameras.
Lee issued the following statement, “You are seeing firsthand the democratization of film. Aspiring filmmakers no longer have to go to film school to make great work. With a simple mobile phone, almost anyone can now become a filmmaker.”
This newest project has Lee partnered with the cell phone manufacturer Nokia. The film will be produced by Nokia Creations which was created especially for this three act project.
The themes of each act will be posted online. Submissions must be filmed entirely with a cell phone camera and can include text, photos and music to be included in the film.
According to Lee the first act is open for submissions and described it as, “Humanity is our central theme. Think about its meaning and how music tells our story.”
